Genevieve's own recipe for cranberry fruit mince pies delectably flavoured with apple cider and spices are baked in perfect sweet pastry to bring you Champers Hampers own signature recipes.
Historically, the fruit mince pie were originally bigger in size and were made in an oblong shape to represent the cradle of Jesus.
They were made with actual meat and like the fruit cake and pudding were spiced. The spices were used to represent the gifts from the 3 kings, usually three, cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg supplied by the return of the Crusaders from the Middle East.
With time, the pies became smaller and rounder and the meat was replaced with fruit, yet the name "mince meat pie" still remains.
