Christmas pudding is also rich in tradition. While some ancient practises are amusing, others border on the absurd. Some traditions say that every member of the family is to take a turn stirring the pudding with a wooden spoon from east to west, in honour of the three kings. It is said that setting the brandy aflame represents Christ's passion. A sprig of holly as garnish is a reminder if His 'Crown of Thorns. A tradition that not surprisingly died out was that of placing a wedding ring in the pudding. The person who found it was likely to marry that year…. supposedly. And for the "really mean", there was the placing of thimbles or buttons in the pudding that signalled the finder would be a spinster or bachelor for life!
Zarbo haven't put any of those items into their puddings but we trust you enjoyed reading about the ancient amusements.
